Summer Reading Part One: Catch-22

Catch-22 by Joseph Heller is a satirical novel that tells the story of a bomber pilot who is in a no-win situation. He completes all of his required missions but his commander piles more on afterwards, seemingly wanting to get him killed. He has no choice but to follow the orders. It goes on and on, with no end in sight. And then a sudden turn of events changes the whole mood of the story, as the author's message is revealed. The confusing order of the chapters may mislead the reader but actually, the chapters tie together near the end of the story, bring the numerous characters and plots together. The dark humor and the captivating plot tied me to the book, pushing me to read on. It's one of those kind of books that you pick up and cannot put down. I suggest this book for everyone, as it contains elements within it that could appeal to a wide range of audiences. VERY GOOD BOOK.
